SEJ-311 Social Challenges in Complex Societies

Coordinator: Dr. Felipe Morente Mejías (fmorente [arroba] ujaen [punto] es)

The “Social Challenges in Complex Societies” research group was formed in 1997 to address emerging dilemmas produced by the changes that have shaped today’s society: a more complex, more dynamic, more unstable society that has generated important challenges for integration, for basic forms of sociability and for people’s coexistence.

Some of these challenges in our nearest environment, Jaén and Andalusia, were the preferred working target for this group: migratory processes, ethnic issues, transformations in the labor market, poverty, addiction and problems with child and youth adaptation or social development of the territory.

Research lines

  • Social and occupational integration processes of vulnerable collectives
  • Migratory, ethnic and multicultural processes
  • Social conflict and peace mediation
  • Young people and minors: education, work and leisure
  • Dependent persons and compensation policies
  • Exclusion and social deviance processes
