Master in Biotechnology and Biomedicine

by the University of Jaén (Spain)

1. Presentation

The Master’s programme in Biotechnology and Biomedicine offers the possibility of training at the Master’s level in Biochemistry, Genetic, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and its applications in the fields of Biomedicine-Pharmacy and Biotechnology. This Master qualify to the student to enrol in PhD studies or to incorporate into a biotechnological company.

The first part of the programme (Modules I and II) contributes significantly to an integral training of the student and to the acquisition of transversal capacities applicable to all research lines that are undertaken in our departments and associated companies. The second part of the programme offer the possibility to select between a specialization in Biomedicine (Module III) or in Biotechnology (Module IV). Our programme includes researchers from biotechnological and pharmaceutical businesses as well as hospital staff, which offer an applied vision of research and can enhance communication and the transfer of the research results of basic research to the applied sphere.  The third part of the programme (Module V. Project End of Master) is structured according to research lines under way in departments and participating businesses. The student is trained in the experimental methodology of one of these lines. There is a broad spectrum of training with a total of 33 research lines, of which 11are offered by the R&D departments of 10 biotechnology companies.

The student must do 60 ECTS credits distributed in 12 subjects (48 ECTS credits) and the Project End of Master (12 ECTS credits).
