The dependent status is linked to loss of ability to perform activities of
daily life. Worldwide, a large number of people are likely to
qualify as dependents. Whatever is the cause, the trend of the problem is
increasing.
In Spain, in order to supplement and enhance the social policy of our country,
the Law 39/2006 of December 14th opens a new horizon for people who, due to
vulnerability require support for the essential activities of life and achieve a
greater degree of personal autonomy and thus be able to fully exercise their
citizenship rights.
Given this, a wide range of professionals need
adequate training to set a comprehensive and multidisciplinary care specifically.
That is why this social problem and therefore of all that shapes society,
requires a multidisciplinary postgraduate training to standardize criteria
and unify efforts of professionals.
