FQM-322 High-Energy Sources in the Galaxy

Coordinator: Dr. Pedro Luis Luque Escamilla (peter [arroba] ujaen [punto] es)

The High-Energy Sources in the Galaxy Research Group has been carrying out its work since 2002. Alongside its scientific facet of astrophysical observation and research into high-energy sources in our Milky Way, are the telescope design tasks (such as the recent access tower to the LST large-size telescopes of the largest gamma rays observatory under construction in the island of La Palma) and astronomic dissemination tasks they perform.

For its research and dissemination work, the group operates the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Jaén that hosts a permanent 0.4 m telescope. Its main instruments are a CCD camera with filter wheel for photometry, and two spectrographs for low and high resolution spectroscopy. Other smaller portable telescopes and theodolites are also available.
