HUM-155 Laboratory for Spatial Experimentation (LABe2)

The LABe2 research group aims to study and analyze the "space" linked to the Humanities, which brings together interdisciplinary subjects such as History, Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Didactics, Literature, etc., but which also connects with areas of Sciences and Technology such as Geomatics, Topography, Cartography and GIS.

The experience of the members of the research group is based on Modern History (XV-XIX centuries) and their contributions analyze complex spaces of the Monarchy of Spain, including many territories in Europe and America, but also in other chronologies and territories.

LABe2 has as documentary sources both handwritten and printed materials and historical cartography, but it also uses sources such as aerial photography, satellite images, field studies, population surveys, discussion groups, etc.

It also has a connection with other European laboratories and observatories, mainly in Italy, and with research centers and departments in France, Italy, Germany, Poland and the USA.

  • Social, political, economic and other studies on the Kingdom of Jaén (16th to 18th centuries)
  • Studies of historical complex spaces in Spain, Europe and America
  • Valuation of Heritage and Museology
  • Urban History
