Osama Amer (Egyptologist)
Osama Amer is an Inspector of Antiquities for the Aswan Area for the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.
He has been working in archaeology and Egyptology since 2003, and has worked in both Aswan and Saqqara at the Necropolis of Teti Pyramids, and in the Technical Office of the Ministry of Antiquities.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Egyptology from South Valley University. He was the Director for the Philae Temple from 2013 until 2015. In 2014 and 2015.Currently, he is a member of site management office at the minister office, he worked with the Egyptian team on the excavation of New Kingdom tombs north of Qubbet el-Hawa and the Greco-Roman tombs at the Aga Khan Mausoleum. He has worked with multiple international missions in the Aswan area, including teams from Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. In 2015, he participated in the Building National Capacities for Managing Risks to Cultural Heritage in Case of Emergency training from ICCROM-ATHAR and UNESCO. Currently, he is receiving training from the British Museum for digital documentation of Egyptian artefacts in the Aswan Magazine. Osama lives in his native Aswan.
