The IDEO (Educational Research and Development in Orientation) research group was created in 2001 by Antonio Cañas, Antonio Pantoja, Tomás Campoy and Cristóbal Villanueva for the purpose of researching the situation of educational orientation and tutoring in their different contexts and manifestations in order to come up with proposals aimed at improving quality. Over the years, the team that comprises it has renewed itself while at the same time assuming challenges derived from the changes that are occurring in society. Particularly noteworthy is the work carried out on detection of needs in orientation and tutoring or on developing intercultural programs based on internet use as well as on designing a Recommendation System for the orientation of the teaching staff, pupils and university graduates. The IDEO group is the creator and manager of the Electronic Research and Teaching Journal (Revista Electrónica de Investigación y Docencia, REID) (http://www.revistareid.net). Ultimately, its purpose is to promote innovation in educational orientation.
