Other grants linked to UJA contracts

University of Jaén

As part of the Research Support Plan, the University of Jaén offers the following postdoctoral grants:

If you have held a predoctoral contract under the Research Staff Training Programme from the Research Support Plan at the University of Jaén, the Andalusian Research, Development and Innovation Plan (PAIDI) or the National R&D&I Plan, you can apply for this grant for a maximum duration of 6 months with co-funding from a UJA research group once your PhD programme with international mention at UJA is complete and your PhD thesis has been defended (or at least approved for defence).

To be eligible for this grant, you must have applied to a competitive public call for postdoctoral contracts, regardless of the result and supporting organisation (Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva, Talentia Senior, Beatriz Galindo, Emergia or Marie S. Curie IF, or any potential future programmes).

A maximum of 5 grants are available under this scheme, which will be organised annually. The grants will be linked to ongoing research projects obtained through competitive public calls for funding (PAIDI, National R&D&I Plan or European Framework Programme).

Beneficiaries of the Marie Curie programme will have the opportunity to extend their time at UJA for an additional period of 3 years. They must undertake to participate in any competitive calls for research projects and regional, national and international talent schemes announced during this additional three-year period with the aim of continuing their research career at UJA. During the extended contract period, they may be assigned teaching duties of a maximum of 8 credits in their subject area. Beneficiaries of this Action will receive a gross salary equivalent to that of an assistant lecturer at UJA.

You can participate in this scheme if you have obtained at least 85% of the maximum score in one of the two calls for Ramón y Cajal Grants preceding the call for this Action. Hiring will be based on employment contracts for access to the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System (Article 22 of the Science Law of 14/2011). Under this Action, staff will be hired for an extendible period of two and a half years, up to a maximum of five years.

Extension of the contract will require a positive evaluation of the research activity, which will focus primarily on whether or not the beneficiary has obtained external funding for research projects or OTRI contracts.

Beneficiaries of this Action will receive a gross salary equivalent to that of an assistant lecturer at the University of Jaén. They willbe given an additional €10,000 grant at the start of the contract and must undertake to participate in competitive calls for research projects.

They may be assigned teaching duties of a maximum of 8 credits in their subject area. The University of Jaén undertakes to offer a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer post in the beneficiary’s subject area if, at the end of the five-year contract period, they have obtained I3 accreditation.
