Access to host country's culture / language training

The University of Jaén offers a wide catalog of language courses for incoming researchers who want to learn Spanish (or other foreign languages) for their professional and personal development.

This training is offered through the CEALM - Center for Advanced Studies in Modern Languages ​​of the UJA, which is located in the Domingo Savio Campus (Carretera de Madrid s / n - Entreplanta) of the Campus Las Lagunillas in Jaén. In addition to the courses to learn English, French, German, Italian or Portuguese, CEALM offers training in Spanish as a foreign language during both semesters of the academic year (from October to January and from February to June) according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR):

In addition to the general CEFR courses, the CEALM of the UJA offers its students additional training in Spanish language and culture, as described in the 2020/2021 course catalog:

These subjects are made up of 60 hours each (6 ECTS), they require a previous level test to be able to enroll and their coordination falls on the professor Alicia Arjonilla Sampedro (aarjoni [arroba] ujaen [punto] es), who can also be request the design of individual courses. The CEALM of the UJA also offers preparation courses to obtain the DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), which is awarded by the Cervantes Institute (on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Spain) and guarantees official recognition on an international scale. The fees to receive this type of training will depend on the chosen course and the applicant category (visiting PDI, doctoral students, etc.). Finally, those who have a doctorate and wish to teach their native language at the University of Jaén may also do so if they so request within the framework of the CEALM "Conversation Assistant" program, which aims to benefit both Spanish and Spanish students. foreign candidates (who will be able to familiarize themselves with the UJA's teaching / learning system and practices).
