If you would like to work in Spain and pursue a career at UJA, you will need to check whether your university degree from your country of origin will be accepted in Spain well in advance of travelling to the country.

Generally speaking, there are two pathways for incoming foreign researchers to obtain recognition of their qualifications: homologation and equivalence.

The homologation procedure is used to obtain official recognition of the validity of foreign academic or professional qualifications in Spain. Please bear in mind that homologation differs from equivalence, which simply compares the foreign qualification to a Spanish undergraduate or postgraduate degree in academic terms. In other words, equivalence only entails academic recognition, whereas homologation represents both academic and professional recognition.

The official homologation process can be very long and you will be required to (a) have passed the DELE Spanish exam at B2 level (if Spanish is not your native language) and (b) provide sworn translations in Spanish of your university documents (you can find a list of sworn translators in Spain online).
