Almudena Machado-Jiménez has an international PhD in Literatures in English from the University of Jaén, Spain, where she works as a Lecturer in the Department of English Philology. She obtained a BA degree in English Studies and two MAs, one in Teacher Training and another in English Studies with a specialization in English literatures and cultures. During her PhD studies, she has been a visiting researcher at SOAS University of London and ULICES University of Lisbon. She has publications in international journals and books on utopian and dystopian studies, feminism, and postcolonial literature, especially africanfuturism. Particularly, she examines patriarchal utopias and the role of women within these frameworks, while also exploring the intersection of feminist dystopian narratives with contemporary societal challenges. Machado-Jiménez has been the President of the Association of Young Researchers on Anglophone Studies (ASYRAS) and continues being actively engaged in the field of English studies, working as the editor of journals including Gaudeamus and The Grove — Working Papers on English Studies, as the community manager of AEDEAN (the Spanish Association of Anglophone Studies), and contributing to organizing conferences and workshops on research training, feminism, utopian studies and contemporary narratives.
