About: Julio Angel Olivares Merino (BA Granada 1992; PhD Jaén 1999) teaches English Literature at the University of Jaén (Spain). His research pivots around Gothic fiction and film, semiotics, as well as narratology-related to music, film, literature and popular culture. His studies also focus on creativity in the classroom, mainly dealing with the use of radio, its registers or didactic resources, in teaching. Among his books, Cenizas del plenilunio Alado (2001), an insight into the literary vampire before Stoker’s Dracula; The Ring: una mirada al abismo (2005), an approach to Nakata's masterpiece, or a study on Spanish director Jaume Balagueró (En nombre de la oscuridad, 2011).

As a fiction writer, he has published more than 15 novels, with titles such as Diarios del cuarto oscuro (2001), Sonambulia (2013) or La piel leve (2020).

He is Managing Director of UniRadio Jaén, the academic radio station at the University of Jaén, where he conducts programs about literature, film and science.
