The University of Jaén announces scholarships aimed at attracting international students to Bachelor Degrees at the University of Jaén.

PRESENTATION

In the framework of the Strategic Planning of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization, and jointly with the Vice-Rectorate for Graduate, Postgraduate and Continuous Training Studies, it has been resolved to convene 50 Scholarships for excellent international students who wish to study a Bachelor Degree at the University of Jaén. OBJECTIVES

  • To promote internationalization of Bachelor Degrees students from the University of Jaén.
  • To facilitate the access of international students to the Bachelor studies adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
  • To promote the attraction of excellent students to undergraduate studies of the University of Jaén.

RECIPIENTS

Students from countries listed in ANNEX I of non-Spanish Teaching Centers, who meet the requirements indicated in this call.

DESCRIPTION

Total tuition fees exemption + Grant for Bachelor studies

50 scholarships are awarded for undergraduate studies:

  • Up to 100% of the tuition fees for the whole Bachelor degree at the University of Jaén (240 ECTS- 4 years). Annually, the tuition fees corresponding to one academic year (60 ECTS) will be paid. Additional ECTS should be paid by the student concerned. In general, registrations of less than 60 ECTS annually will not be admitted.
  • Health insurance (sickness/hospitalization), repatriation, accidents and third party liability during the period of the scholarship.
  • An additional grant of €2,200 per year and candidate, for accommodation/support expenses (2,400 USD approx.). This amount of money will not be enough to completely pay accommodation and plane bills. Students will be able to use this economic help to support part of their expenses. The following cost-of-living index gives an approximation of prices in Jaén or Linares.
  • Free Spanish courses for non-Spanish speaking students.
  • Other necessary expenses may be covered during the stay at the University of Jaén.

* The renewal of the scholarship for the total of the 4 years of the Degree studies will be subject to obtaining satisfactory academic results.

GENERAL AND ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPLICANTS

Talent scholarship applicants will be subject to the following requirements:

  • Applicants for a Bachelor’s Degree scholarship are required to have completed secondary school or equivalent by the 15th of September.
  • To have a minimum GPA of 7 out of a scale of 10.

Students who have obtained a scholarship and wish to renew it to continue their studies at the UJA must have passed 90% of the credits enrolled in the previous year.

A new scholarship to attract the talent of the degree can not be awarded to a student who has already been a beneficiary of the scholarship to attract the talent of a previous degree.

APPLICATIONS

Applications must be submitted until April 5th, 2021 through the online application form available on the University of Jaén web site.

Together with the application form, the following documents must be uploaded in pdf format:

  • Copy of passport or identity document.
  • A complete transcript of records of the studies completed, with explicit mention of the GPA.
  • Copy of the academic certificate (optional).
  • Certification accrediting the knowledge of Spanish language1 (for all Degrees except for the Degree in Business Administration and Management).
  • Certification accrediting the knowledge of English language2 (if you request the Degree in Business Administration and Management).

SELECTION PROCESS

Scholarships winners will be determined by the University of Jaén and, if necessary, the corresponding government agencies of the country of origin, from the following criteria:

  • GPA of the required studies to access to the Bachelor’s degrees, out of a scale of 10.
  • 14 places will be reserved for finalists in the 2021 Spanish language school Olympics in Russia, 14 places for students from Spanish language centres run by the Education Department of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil, and 3 scholarships for the 3 winning schools in the Middle School category of the "School of the Year in Spanish 2020" competition, Organised by the Education Department of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil and the Miguel de Cervantes School in São Paulo, 2 places for students from Spanish schools in Poland, 2 places for students from Tunisia selected on the basis of the terms of the agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunisia and 5 places for students who have passed the Brazilian National High School Examination (ENEM).

AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS

The provisional resolution for granting the aid will be published by means of a resolution of the Vice-Rector's Office for Internationalisation of the University of Jaén, under the terms established in the proposal made by the Student Assistance and Aid Service.

The beneficiaries of the grant will receive an individual communication at the e-mail address they have indicated in the application. Likewise, the list of selected people will be published on the University of Jaén website.

In addition to the selected scholarship holders, a list of substitutes will be drawn up to cover any vacancies or resignations that may occur during the procedure. The order of the substitutes will be carried out according to the same selection criteria.

Applicants who do not agree with the assessment given may lodge a complaint within 5 working days of publication by writing to talento [arroba] ujaen [punto] es.

Any complaints will be resolved and notified with the publication of the
definitive list.
Once the period for lodging a complaint has elapsed, and once any possible complaints have been resolved, the definitive list of grants awarded will be published,
substitutes and excluded persons.

In the event that the Grade selected by the applicant is not taught, he or she will be given the opportunity to enroll in another Grade.

In the case of vacant grants, they may be used for international students enrolled in Phase 1 of the SAD. The beneficiaries must meet the requirements set out in section 4 of this call.

OBLIGATIONS OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

  • Except in the case of students from Portuguese and/or Italian speaking countries, it is mandatory to have a level of Spanish language adequate to follow the courses in this language.

  • Send a signed letter to the University of Jaén accepting the scholarship and its own conditions of award.

  • For access to undergraduate students at the University of Jaén, students must comply with the requirements indicated in ANNEX III of the present call: regulatory requirements.

  • Complete the prescription process to the corresponding Bachelor's degree, according to the regulations of the UJA and the University Unique District of Andalusia. If necessary, students must present the Diploma required to access that Bachelor program recognized by the Spanish Government.

  • Complete the registration process at the University of Jaén, according to the procedure and regulatory deadlines.

  • Complete all the procedures necessary to obtain the Spanish visa1 and, if so, legalize all documents required for your academic transcript or degree certificate.

  • Pass at least 90% of the credits enrolled per year.

  • In order to receive the financial aid and be a beneficiary of the insurance policy, you must be living in the cities of Jaén or Linares, except for those students who are beneficiaries of these grants and who will subsequently study in a face-to-face mobility programme during one of the academic years.

SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT

The beneficiary applicants will enjoy exemption from the payment of public prices for academic and administrative services (60 credits per course) and the amount granted for accommodation and / or maintenance will be paid in two payments per academic year, 60% It will be paid once the student's enrollment and his incorporation to the University of Jaén are accredited, and 40% will be paid once the academic results of the first semester are verified.
