Introduction

Within the framework of the Strategic Planning of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization, and in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching Coordination and Quality of Teaching, it has been resolved to announce 30 Scholarships for international students of excellence who wish to study Master's degrees at the University of Jaén.

Goals

  • Promote the internationalization of the students of the Master's degrees at the University of Jaén.

  • Facilitate the access of international students to Master's studies adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

  • Promote the attraction of students of excellence to graduate studies at the University of Jaén.

Recipients

Students with nationality in countries listed in ANNEX I from non-Spanish Education Centers, who meet the requirements indicated in this call.

Description

Number and amount of scholarships:

Full scholarship for Master's studies.

TYPE A

TYPE A
20 Master's scholarships are offered.
The scholarship will consist of:

  • Coverage of 100% of the tuition fees for the credits required to pass the chosen programme (between 60-120 ECTS for Master's studies). The tuition fees for a full academic year (60 ECTS) will be paid annually (The renewal of the scholarship for the entire Master's studies will be subject to satisfactory academic results). Those wishing to enrol for more credits 1 per year will have to pay the additional cost. In general, enrolments of less than 60 ECTS credits per year will not be accepted.
  • 100% coverage of administrative fees and school insurance.
  • A financial amount of €3,190 per year per beneficiary.
  • Free Spanish courses for non-Spanish speaking students.
  • In justified cases, other necessary expenses may be covered during the stay at the University of Jaén. These cases refer to situations that prevent the normal academic activities of the beneficiaries from being carried out. For example:
    - Exceptional displacements between University campuses.
    - Coverage of complementary credits.

The Talent Attraction Grants Committee will be responsible for authorising these exceptional expenses.

General and Academic Requirements of the applicants

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must:

Have the corresponding qualification for access to the Master's degree requested or be in a position to have completed it by 31 July 2025. ANNEX III of the call for applications contains the general criteria for admission.

  • Have at the time of application a minimum average grade of 8 on a scale of 10 points for scholarships in the studies in the previous section.
  • Be at least 18 years of age on 1 May 2025.
  • Renewal: those who have obtained a scholarship and wish to renew it to continue their studies at UJA must have passed 90% of the credits enrolled in the previous academic year. For non-Spanish-speaking students, it will be necessary to present proof of having successfully completed the Spanish courses or accreditation of their level.
  • Maximum number of scholarships. The maximum number of scholarships that each student may obtain will be determined by the number of courses in the syllabus plus one.

In the case of Master's degrees of more than 60 ECTS, students who have obtained a grant and wish to renew it in order to continue their studies in the same Master's degree must have passed 90% of the credits enrolled in the previous academic year.

A new master's degree talent attraction grant cannot be awarded to an applicant who has already received a master's degree talent attraction grant in a previous call or who is currently studying the master's degree for which he/she is applying for this grant at the University of Jaén.

Request

Applications must be submitted until 15 February 2025 at 23:59 through the computer application available on the website of the University of Jaén.

Only one Master's degree may be selected for each application, and no more than two applications may be submitted per candidate.

Together with the application form, the following documentation must be submitted in electronic format (pdf):

  • Copy of passport or identity card.
  • Transcript of records with grades showing the GPA/average mark obtained in your country of origin (apply in the country of origin). If the GPA/average mark does not appear, the application will not be accepted.

Selection process

The selection will be made by the University of Jaén with the support of the corresponding government agencies of the country of origin, based on the following criteria:

  • Preference of qualification in the rules for access to the Master's Degree.
  • Average mark of the qualification required for access to the Master's degree, on a scale of 1 to 10.Preference will be given to students who can accredit their knowledge of Spanish for degrees taught in this language, and to students who can accredit their knowledge of English for applicants to the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
  • Two places will be reserved for students from CIS countries (Commonwealth of Independent States) dependent on the Spanish Embassy in Russia, one place for students from Morocco, four places for students from Brazil, and one place for students from Mexico, selected on the basis of the terms of the agreements with the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in these countries.

Granting of Scholarships

The present call and its resolutions (provisional and definitive lists of beneficiaries) will be published on the UJA electronic notice board https://sede.ujaen.es/publico/tablon.

The provisional resolution for the awarding of grants will be published by resolution of the Vice-rectorate for Internationalisation of the University of Jaén.

In addition, a list of substitutes will be drawn up to cover possible vacancies or resignations that may occur during the procedure. The order of substitutes will be carried out according to the same selection criteria.

In the event that the master's degree selected by the applicant does not take place, enrolment in another master's degree in the same field or related branch will be facilitated.

Obligations of the Beneficiaries

  • Have an adequate level of Spanish to be able to follow the courses in this language.
    Send to the University of Jaén a signed letter stating the acceptance of the scholarship and the conditions established by the University of Jaén. The model of this letter will be sent to you if you are selected.
    In order to access the Master studies at the University of Jaén, the student must fulfil the requirements indicated in ANNEX III of the present call.
    Pre-register for the Master's degree to which you are applying, in accordance with the regulations of the University of Jaén and the Single University District of Andalusia.

  • Formalise the corresponding enrolment at the University of Jaén in accordance with the established procedure and regulatory deadlines.
    Carry out all the necessary procedures to obtain the entry visa to Spain and, where appropriate, the legalisation of all the necessary documentation to constitute your academic record.

Scholarship Payment
