Coming to Jaen
Jaén is the capital city of the province of Jaén, one of the 8 provinces of the autonomous region of Andalucía.
If you come by plane, the nearest airports are Granada-Jaén, Madrid and Málaga (www.aena-aeropuertos.es).
Granada-Jaén airport is one of the options to get to Jaén. Granada-Jaén airport is currently connected with direct flights to Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and some airports in France and Italy. When you arrive to the airport you have to take the airport shuttle to Granada’s coach station (a taxi can be too expensive), from where you will be able to take a coach to Jaén (60 minutes approx.; the main company –Alsa– runs 16 buses a day between Granada and Jaén). There are no trains from Granada to Jaén. There is also a direct shuttle service from Granada-Jaén airport to Jaén city centre (2 or more services a day depending on the season).
Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport is connected to the main cities in the world. Once at the airport, you can get to the city centre by underground (You can download a map of the "metro" at Madrid's underground's website: www.metromadrid.es). The airport's underground line is line no. 8 (pink). If you decide to continue your journey to Jaén by train, change at Nuevos Ministerios and take line 10 (dark blue) to Renfe Chamartín. Recently, there is a direct train service between the terminal T4 of Madrid-Barajas airport to the Atocha train station. From this station there are direct trains to Jaen. Of course, you can take a taxi, but it willl be much more expensive and not so fast. To get the schedules of trains to Jaén and even buy you ticket online, please visit www.renfe.es. The train ride from Madrid-Atocha station to Jaen takes about 3h and 40 minutes. If you want to continue your journey to Jaén by coach, change at Nuevos Ministerios and take line 6 (grey) to Méndez Álvaro coach station (Estación de Autobuses Sur, the company is called Samar www.samar.es, the journey to Jaén lasts 4-5 hours aprox.). If you want to continue your journey by plane, you can fly from Madrid to Granada-Jaén airport.
Malaga airport is quite well connected to many European cities. You are likely to find cheap flights to and from Málaga, because of the high number of tourists that travel to the so-called Costa del Sol. For travelling from Málaga to Jaén, you must take one of the shuttle buses (or a taxi) connecting the airport to Málaga coach station. The coach company is called Alsa (www.alsa.es) and the journey by coach from Málaga to Jaén lasts 3 hours approx.
The University of Jaén is located in the northeast of the city, on the old road from Madrid to Jaén. From the centre of Jaén, you can take buses no. 4, 7, 9, 12, 14, 17, or just walk (It's only 20 minute stroll at leisurely pace). Once at the UJA Campus, international students should go to Building C2, 1st floor (Edificio Bachiller Pérez de Moya), and meet one of the University of Jaén international relations members.
Coming to Linares
The city of Linares is located in the province of Jaén, and is the second largest city.
If you come by plane, the nearest airports are Granada-Jaén, Madrid and Málaga (www.aena-aeropuertos.es).
From the airport of Granada-Jaén you have to take the shuttle bus that takes you to the bus or train station of Granada, where you can travel to Linares. If you decide to do it by train, at the arrival to the station you should take one of the buses (1, 2 and 7) connecting the station with the city of Linares.

The Polytechnic School of Linares is the center which is on the campus of Linares, Medal of Andalusia, is the result of the development of an important work and cultural training, conducted over many years in two landmark centers in the city of Linares: School of Mines (1892) and the Industrial School (1910). The Polytechnic School is located on Calle Alfonso X el Sabio 28 Linares. The new Scientific-Technological Campus of Linares is equipped with the most modern facilities of the university complex. This is an innovative space that will integrate training, college, professional and occupational areas and activities R+ D + i. In this complex the new facilities of the Polytechnic School of Linares are located. The new campus is located in the south area of the city, next to San Agustín Hospital and is accessible on foot or by local bus lines 1, 3 and 4.
