Introduction (Consult frequently asked questions about the call)

Within the framework of the Strategic Planning of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization, and in collaboration with the Vice-Rectorate for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Permanent Training, it has been decided to announce 75 Scholarships for international students of excellence who wish to study undergraduate studies at the University of Jaén.

Goals

• To promote the internationalization of the students of the University of Jaén Bachelor's Degrees.

• Facilitate the access of international students to degree studies adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

• Promote the attraction of students of excellence to undergraduate studies at the University of Jaén.

Recipients

Students with nationality in countries listed in ANNEX I from non-Spanish Education Centers, who meet the requirements indicated in this call. All communications will be made through the email address that appears in the request.

Description

Full scholarship for undergraduate studies

75 Undergraduate scholarships are announced.

The scholarship will consist of:

TYPE A (50 scholarships)

  • Coverage of 100% of the tuition fees for the credits required to pass the chosen programme (240 ECTS for undergraduate studies). The tuition fees for a full academic year (60 ECTS credits)* will be paid annually. If someone wishes to enrol for more credits per year, the additional cost will have to be paid by the interested party. Enrolments of less than 60 ECTS per year will not be accepted.
  • Coverage of 100% of the costs of credit recognition for those students who request it.
  • 100% coverage of administrative fees and school insurance.
  • An economic amount of €2.390 per beneficiary per year. This scholarship is measured upon 10 months of stay, and will be reduced proportionally to all students arriving after October 15th, 2026.
  • Free Spanish courses in the case of non-Spanish-speaking students.
  • In justified cases, other necessary expenses may be covered during the stay at the University of Jaén. These cases refer to
    situations that prevent the normal academic activities of the scholarship holder from being carried out. For example:
    • Exceptional displacements between University campuses.
    • Coverage of complementary credits.
  • The Atracción del Talento scholarship committee will be in charge of authorising these exceptional expenses.

ANNEX II shows the list of degrees offered in this call and the number of scholarships in each of them.

TYPE B (25 scholarships)

  • Coverage of 100% of the tuition fees for the credits required to pass the chosen programme (240 ECTS for undergraduate studies). The tuition fees for a full academic year (60 ECTS credits)* will be paid annually. If someone wishes to enrol for more credits per year, the additional cost will have to be paid by the interested party. Enrolments of less than 60 ECTS per year will not be accepted.
  • 100% coverage of the cost of credit recognition for those students who request it.
  • Cost of Spanish courses in the case of non-Spanish-speaking students.
  • 100% coverage of administrative fees and school insurance.

* The renewal of the scholarship for the total of 4 years of undergraduate studies will be subject to obtaining required academic results for this call.

General and Academic Requirements of the applicants

Students who wish to participate in this scholarship must:

  • Finishing or being ready to finish studies within a foreign educational system that successfully grants access to Public Andalusian Universities throghout the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Have a minimum score of 8 on a 10-point scale in the studies by March 31st of 2026, (all when compared to the Spanish qualification system).
  • Be at least 18 years of age by September 1st 2026.
  • Renewal: Those who have obtained a scholarship and wish to renew it to continue their studies at the UJA must have passed 90% of the credits enrolled in the previous academic year. Non-Spanish-speaking students must submit proof of completion of Spanish courses (taken in the academic year immediately prior to renewal) or B-2 level accreditation.

To renew their scholarship status, students will have to participate in a Renewal call published every year.

Those studying for a degree in engineering or architecture may receive a scholarship for one year longer than that established in the curriculum, except in exceptional cases accredited and approved by the Commission.

Those studying for a degree in other fields or areas of knowledge may receive a scholarship for the number of years specified in the curriculum, except in exceptional cases accredited and approved by the Commission.

A new undergraduate talent attraction scholarship to begin studies may not be awarded to those who have already been recipients of the undergraduate talent attraction scholarship in a previous call for applications or to those who are already studying for the undergraduate degree for which they are applying for this scholarship at the University of Jaén.

Application

Applications will be submitted until March 1st, 2025 at 23:59 (Spanish time) through the computer application available on this website.

Along with the application form, the following documentation must be sent in electronic format (pdf):

  • Copy of passport or identity document depicting a valid birthdate.

  • Transcript of records showing the GPA/average mark obtained in your home country (to be requested at the home institution). If the GPA/average mark does not appear, the application will not be accepted.

  • Where applicable, certification of knowledge of the Spanish language. It will be submitted by applicants of any degree that do not come from Spanish-speaking countries, with the exception of the Degree in Business Administration and Management (English group).

  • Where applicable, certificate of English language proficiency. This will be required of all applicants for the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management (English group) who do not come from countries where English is the official language.

  • Copy of the academic qualification or document accrediting the completion of studies (optional).

Selection process

The selection will be made by the University of Jaén with the support, where appropriate, of the corresponding government agencies of the country of origin, based on the following criteria:

  • Average grade of the teaching that allows access to undergraduate studies, on a scale of 1 to 10.

  • "Students who prove their knowledge of Spanish for degrees taught in this language will have preference, and students who prove their knowledge of English for applicants of the Degree in Business Administration (group in English).

  • The following places will be reserved:

    • 10 places in modality A and 4 in modality B for students selected by the Education Attaché's Office of the Spanish Embassy in Moscow.

    • 9 places in modality A and 6 places in modality B for students from Spanish language centres attached to the Education Attaché's Office of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil.

    • 2 places in modality A and 2places in modality B for students from Spanish language centres attached to the Education Attaché's Office of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico.

    • 3 place in modality A for students from agreement centres attached to the Ministry of Education of the Spanish Embassy in Argentina.

    • 2 places in modality A and 2 places in modality B for students from agreement centres and attached to the Ministry of Education of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico.

    • 3 places in modality A for the three winning schools in the category of Secondary Education of the "School of the Year in Spanish 2021" Contest, organised by the Ministry of Education of the Embassy of Spain in Brazil and the Miguel de Cervantes School in São Paulo.

    • 10 places in modality A and 3 places in modality B for students of the Bilingual Sections Program of Spanish or intensive teaching of the Spanish language in Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine, selected by the Education Department of the Embassy of Spain in Poland.

    • 4 places in modality B for Kazakh students selected y the Education Department of the Embassy of Spain in Poland.

    • 5 places in modality B for Kazakh students that, fulfilling the previously stablished agreements, couldn't obtain a slot for Business Administration in English.

    • 2 places in modality A for students from Tunisia selected on the basis of the terms of the agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunisia.

    • 2 places in modality A for students from Morocco selected by the Ministry of Education of the Spanish Embassy in Morocco or, failing that, for students from Spanish schools and institutes.

    • 3 places in modality A for students selected by the Consejería de Educación of the Spanish Embassy in Bulgaria directly and through the Education Attaché Offices in Hungary and Romania.

    • Two places in modality A for students enrolled in the network of Spanish schools managed by the Education Office of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil who have passed the National Secondary Education Examination (ENEM) in that country.

Granting of scholarships

The present call and its resolutions (provisional and definitive lists of beneficiaries) will be published on the UJA electronic notice board https://sede.ujaen.es/publico/tablon.

The provisional decision will be published by resolution of the Vice-rectorate for Internationalisation of the University of Jaén.

The beneficiaries of the scholarship will receive an individual communication at the e-mail address indicated in the application form.

In addition to the scholarship holders selected, a list of substitutes will be drawn up to cover possible vacancies or resignations that may occur during the course of the procedure. The ranking of alternates will be carried out according to the same selection criteria. If there is no list of vacancies in any of the embassies/countries with reserved places, these will be added to the general quota.

Starting from the last enrolment deadline for the 2026/27 academic year, any vacancies may be assigned according to the order of the waiting list, provided that the student is enrolled at the University of Jaén in the 2026/27 academic year in one of the degree programmes offered in Anexo II.

Those who do not agree with the assessment given may submit a complaint within 10 working days of publication, by filling in the following form (https://forms.gle/Jh8BRuWXbfr28uuP9) .

Once the period for lodging a complaint has elapsed and any possible claims have been resolved, the definitive list of scholarship awards, substitutes and those excluded will be published.

Obtaining a scholarship in this call does not guarantee a place to study at the University of Jaén, as it will be necessary to obtain said place in the pre-enrolment process for undergraduate studies in accordance with the regulations of the University of Jaén and the Single University District of Andalusia.

In the event that the degree selected by the applicant is not offered, they may enrol in another degree offered in Annex I, provided that they obtain a place in the pre-enrolment process.

Any vacancies arising from the beneficiary's withdrawal or as a result of failure to register at the University of Jaén before 31 October 2026 will be allocated in accordance with the following procedure:

  • By resolution of the Vice-Chancellor's Office for Internationalisation, a provisional list will be published with the names of students who find themselves in this situation and who therefore lose their scholarship status (Scholarship A and Scholarship B).
  • An appeal may be lodged against this resolution within five working days by writing to the following email address: talento [arroba] ujaen [punto] es.
  • Once the appeal period has expired and any appeals have been resolved, the final list of students who lose their scholarship status (Scholarship A) will be published, and these grants will be awarded to students with Scholarship B, following the order of priority obtained in the final list of awards.

Obligations of the beneficiaries

  • For a successful access to Bachelor's Degree studies, candidates must go through the procedure indicated in Anexo 3.
  • Pre-register for the degree in accordance with the regulations of the University of Jaén and the Single University District of Andalusia. If necessary, the beneficiary must have the corresponding qualification that gives access to these studies officially recognised, as well as prove their knowledge of Spanish if required for university admission.
  • The beneficiary must be admitted to one of the degrees offered in Annex II. Obtaining a scholarship in this call does not guarantee a place to study at the University of Jaén, as it will be necessary to obtain said place in the pre-enrolment process for undergraduate studies through the Single University District of Andalusia and always in accordance with the regulations of the University of Jaén.
  • Be at least 18 years of age on 1 September 2026. In any case, if you are a minor at the time of applying for the visa or at the time of entering Spain, you must have a legal guardian in Spain, as the University of Jaén will not be responsible for your guardianship in Spain or for providing documents that allow you to apply for a visa while you are a minor.
  • Register in person at the International Relations Office (Las Lagunillas Campus in Jaén or Linares Science and Technology Campus), with a deadline of 15 October 2026. Failure to register by 31 October 2026 will result in the scholarship being deemed rejected.
  • Take out health insurance with the following coverage (A copy should be sent to talento [arroba] ujaen [punto] es):

    • Medical assistance. (Accident and serious illness insurance including temporary or permanent disability).

    • Death Insurance, including repatriation and/or medical transport of injured, sick and/or deceased insured persons.

    • Displacement of a family member in the event of hospitalisation or death.

    • Civil Liability (minimum 40.000 euros).

  • Except in justified cases, exceed 90% of the credits registered annually.

  • Non-Spanish-speaking students must submit proof of completion of Spanish courses (taken in the academic year immediately prior to renewal) or Level B-2 accreditation in order to renew their scholarship.

  • It will be an essential requirement to receive financial aid and to be a beneficiary of the insurance contract to be residing in the cities of Jaén or Linares, except for those students who are beneficiaries of these scholarships who subsequently attend face-to-face mobility stays during any of the academic courses.

Payment of scholarships

Once the enrolment and registration at the University of Jaén has been completed, as well as verification of the insurance policy with the coverage required in this call for applications, the following payment will be made as follows:

- First payment, amounting to 60% of the grant (1,434 euros).
- Second payment, 40% of the aid (956 euros) will be paid from February 2026, once the student's attendance at the exams of the call for applications has been verified of the student to the exams of the ordinary call I.

In addition to the above, the beneficiaries of the scholarship will be exempt from the payment of the public prices for academic and administrative services for the credits in first enrolment (60 credits per course). If someone wishes to enrol for more credits per year, the additional cost will have to be paid by the person concerned.

Visa

The University of Jaén will provide the necessary support for the VISA process.

Reimbursement

The amounts received will be reimbursed, with the legally established interest for late payment, if applicable, in the following cases:

  1. Obtaining the grant without meeting the conditions required for it, regardless of the moment at which it is detected that the candidate does not meet the required conditions.
  2. Failure to comply with the purpose for which the grant was awarded.
  3. Failure to comply with the obligation to provide justification.
  4. Failure to comply with the obligations established in this call for applications.

Amounts awarded but not applied shall be returned to the budget of the University of Jaén.
