Description

Characteristics, number and duration of contracts.

Applications are invited for Visiting Professor positions for the 2026/2027 academic year, the number of which will be determined by the available budget.

Visiting Professors are teaching or research staff hired on an exceptional and temporary basis under an employment contract that maintains their civil service or employment relationship with their original institutions.

The duration of the contract will be six months, extendable for the same period, subject to agreement by both parties, up to a maximum of two years. Any extensions and their corresponding time periods will be subject to the processing and granting of the relevant residence and work permits and the approval of the Governing Council.

Visiting Professors shall be required to teach a maximum of eight hours per week, at undergraduate or postgraduate level, preferably in English, as part of the University of Jaén's Bilingualism Programme.

The gross remuneration of visiting lecturers will be proposed by the Academic Planning Committee and approved by the Governing Council. It will be equivalent to one of the contractual positions provided for in current legislation and will be, at most, equivalent to that of permanent teaching staff/contracted doctoral teaching staff.

Regardless of the remuneration corresponding to visiting professors, the University of Jaén may offer additional specific grants to cover installation costs, depending on budget availability.

Applications will be endorsed and processed by the management of the Department, Research Institute or Centre promoting the recruitment proposal, and must be approved by the Department in which the teaching will take place. Candidates must submit an application (in accordance with the template attached in Annex I) to the Department, Institute or Centre promoting the position by 23:59 (Spanish time) on 27 February 2026. This application must be accompanied by the following documentation:

● Curriculum Vitae in Spanish or English, using the standard template available at the following link. CVs that are not submitted using the standard template will not be considered.

● Detailed report of the activities to be carried out, in the field of teaching or teaching and research.

● Document proving affiliation with the institution of origin (certificate, contract, etc.).

● Authorisation from the centre of origin.

● Copy of passport/identity document.

The promoting Department, Institute or Centre, after obtaining approval from the Department where the teaching will take place, shall submit the applications and all other relevant documentation for the candidates via the University of Jaén's Electronic Registry by 23:59 on 6 March 2026.

Selection process

Once the applications and evaluations of all candidates submitted by the departments, research institutes or promoting centres have been received, they will be evaluated by a Recruitment Committee, which will submit a proposal to the Academic Planning Committee (COA).

The Selection Committee will take into account the teaching, research and internationalization suitability of the Department, as well as the
institutional strategic relevance (prioritizing the strengthening of strategic alliances, such as NEOLAiA, or the institutional impact of relations with internationally recognized institutions).
