Why choose the University of Jaén?
The University of Jaén (UJA) is a young (founded in 1993) and dynamic institution located in the province of Jaén, Andalusia. UJA is structured in two modern campuses (Las Lagunillas Campus, in Jaén, and Linares Scientific and Technological Campus, in Linares) equipped with advanced facilities and resources at the service of students and teaching staff. The UJA university community is made up of nearly 18,000 people, who enjoy the numerous UJA services and an intense social and cultural agenda.
The UJA is a comprehensive university committed to research and innovative teaching, offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across various fields of knowledge: engineering, health sciences, social and legal sciences, experimental sciences, humanities, education sciences, and social work (see below in Academic Offer). The programmes offered are mainly taught in small teaching groups and with personalised attention from the teaching staff, who make use of modern teaching resources.
The teaching quality and the intense scientific and transfer activity, articulated in part through the various existing research institutes and centres for advanced studies, contribute to the fact that the UJA has been recognised as one of the best young universities in Spain (under 50 years old), being in the 201-250 range of THE Young University Ranking 2024. Furthermore, its commitment to social responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) places it among the top 200 universities worldwide, according to the prestigious 'THE Impact Rankings 2024,' making it the top university in Spain, alongside five other Spanish universities, in this area.
UJA is also one of the Spanish universities with the highest degree of internationalisation, with more than 2000 international students (mobility or regular students), who have rated their experience at UJA very positively on international portals. In particular, UJA offers programmes taught partly or entirely in English, as well as a wide range of other subjects in English, and offers an incomparable framework of linguistic immersion in Spanish, with free courses for mobility students or Talent attraction. UJA is also the coordinator of the European University Alliance NEOLAiA (https://neolaiacampus.eu/); financed by the European Commission and made up of 9 European universities, and for years it has occupied a prestigious position in the Top 5 of Spanish universities with the highest funding in the Erasmus+ KA171 external mobility programme.
