Action C.3.e. Grants for Equipment Upgrades.

Objetive

The purpose of these grants is to prevent technological obsolescence and enhance the analytical or functional capabilities of scientific and technical equipment at the University of Jaén. Through co-financing, the initiative aims to modernize operational equipment by updating control systems or adding new components that optimize performance.

Conditions

Grants are strictly intended to cover updating costs for equipment linked to ongoing research projects and/or Article 60 contracts. Eligible expenses include:

  • Software and firmware updates necessary for proper data processing or system compatibility.
  • Replacement or addition of modules, components, or hardware that improve original performance features (sensitivity, speed, automation).
  • Adaptation of equipment to new technical or safety regulations. The grant will cover a maximum of 50% of the total cost and will not cover the purchase of complete new equipment or ordinary consumables.

Applicant Requirements

  • Principal Investigator of the project or team responsible for the equipment to be updated, or a member of said team authorized by the Principal Investigator.
  • Equipment must be registered in the University of Jaén's inventory and located on its premises.
  • Compliance with the requirements set forth in the general regulations of the University.

Application Process

  • Official application form detailing the expected technical improvement and how the update will positively impact research outcomes.
  • Detailed supplier quote specifying the modules or software licenses included in the upgrade.

Evaluation Criteria

Approval by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Knowledge Transfer, prioritizing updates that represent a qualitative leap in the research group's capacity or resolve technological incompatibility issues.
