Action R.1.a. Early-Career Research Projects

Objetives

To promote leadership among young researchers and support the launch of new, innovative lines of research. The primary goal is to facilitate the start of the research outlined in selected projects, enabling young researchers to apply for upcoming competitive calls with higher chances of success.

Conditions

  • Those required by both the general regulations and the specific text of the call.
  • Two-year projects (maximum of €10,000 per project).
  • Subject to budget availability, a maximum of two projects will be funded per branch of knowledge: UJA Engineering and Architecture; UJA Social and Legal Sciences; UJA Arts and Humanities; UJA Health Sciences; and UJA Experimental Sciences.
  • Only novel research lines proposed by emerging teams led by young researchers will be funded.
  • The call may include the role of a tutor or mentor for the project, detailing their specific requirements and functions.

Applicant Requirements

  • Must not have served as Principal Investigator (PI) on a competitively funded project prior to the application date.
  • Must be UJA teaching and research staff holding a Ph.D., with a contractual affiliation with UJA throughout the entire period of the grant.
  • Must not have any existing funding for the requested project.
  • Ph.D. defense date must be January 2017 or later.
  • Projects may have a PI and a Co-PI; both must meet the above requirements.
  • For members of the research team:
  • Must be UJA teaching and research staff holding a Ph.D., with a contractual affiliation with UJA throughout the grant period.
  • For external personnel, official authorization from their institution is required, guaranteeing their affiliation throughout the grant period.

Submitting Applications

Applications must be submitted through the University of Jaén Electronic Office (Sede Electrónica), attaching all documentation required by the call.

Evaluation Criteria

The call will establish evaluation criteria considering the proposed project proposal, the feasibility of planned activities, the competitiveness of the submission, and the applicants' CVA (Standardized Curriculum Vitae).

Beneficiary Obligations

  • Execute the planned work plan.
  • Submit a final project report to the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Knowledge Transfer.
  • Mandatory submission of a project proposal to regional, national, or international competitive calls opened during the project term or within one year following its completion.
  • Mandatory public dissemination of project results.
  • Compliance with all requirements set forth in both general regulations and the specific call text.
