Action T.2.a. Industrial and Intellectual Property

Objetive

To support the patenting process to protect and commercialize inventions developed at the university, in compliance with current regulations.

This initiative aims to protect inventions. Eligible activities for financial support under this action include drafting and filing applications for protection with the relevant official registries and agencies (OEPM, WIPO, RPI, EPO, etc.). These are research results reported to the OTRI (Research Results Transfer Office) that have passed a preliminary feasibility study to be protected through legally recognized mechanisms (patents, utility models, software, industrial designs, know-how of clear interest to companies and/or institutions, copyright, etc.) and have demonstrated interest from companies or entities for commercial exploitation.

Conditions

The following expenses will be funded:

Expenses related to feasibility studies, drafting of the specification, and official documentation for submission to official agencies and registries.
Official filing fees payable to official registries and agencies.

The result must pass a preliminary technical feasibility study conducted by the OTRI regarding its options for protection under legally recognized industrial and intellectual property rights.
Submission of a roadmap and timeline of actions aimed at exploiting the patent if granted.
Processing technical details of unprotected inventions using external AI tools that do not comply with UJA security and confidentiality protocols is strictly prohibited.

Those specified in both the general regulations and the official text of the call for applications.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted through the University of Jaén Electronic Secretariat, attaching the documentation required in the call.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated according to the terms of the call, once approved by the OTRI Directorship.

Beneficiary Obligations

Prepare an exploitation plan within the year following the grant award.
Submit a justification report in accordance with the call.
Comply with all obligations specified in the general regulations and the text of the call.
