Text of the Call
Objectives
To promote doctoral programs in collaboration with companies and institutions, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology through the training of research personnel in industrial and/or real-world environments.
The objective of this action is the completion of doctorates through the co-financing of employment contracts for research personnel in training, who participate in a research project within which their doctoral thesis will be framed, in order to promote employment insertion in external public or private entities.
Conditions
To grant this aid, it will be necessary for the requesting research team, as well as the collaborating entity, to submit a work plan that supports the application and allows for its monitoring. Positive consideration will be given to aspects such as a commitment to hiring or the generation of indirect employment.
- The percentage of co-financing for the contracting cost will be regulated in the corresponding call, not exceeding 75%.
- The CV of the candidate for the industrial doctorate must be provided, meeting the requirements established in the call.
- The lead researcher on behalf of the University of Jaén acting as a tutor, or the co-tutor if applicable, must be a PhD holder with a civil servant or contractual link with the University of Jaén throughout the entire period of execution of the grants.
- Only one grant may be requested per research team, and the candidate may only be part of one application per call.
- Those conditions established in both the general regulations and the text of the call.
- It will be necessary to provide an expression of interest from the external entity regarding hiring or the generation of indirect employment.
Requirements for Applicants
- Hold legal residence in Spain that allows for doctoral studies and the formalization of an employment contract linked to the grant, in accordance with current legislation. This requirement must be met at the time of joining the doctoral program and maintained throughout the duration of the grant.
- Not to have been employment-linked to the external entity with which the grant is requested, nor with any other equity- or socially-related entity (Group entity), during the six months prior to the date of joining the doctorate. In the case of spin-off companies and EBCs (Technology-Based Companies), this requirement will not apply if the employment relationship was maintained with a public or private non-profit R&D institution that holds shares or capital in the new company.
- Not to be included as a candidate in the application of more than one entity.
- Be enrolled or in a position to be admitted to a full-time doctoral program at the University of Jaén as of the date of incorporation.
- The date of enrollment in the doctoral program at the University of Jaén, which will serve as the basis for this recruitment modality, will be established in the call.
- Individuals who already hold a PhD degree from any Spanish or foreign university cannot be proposed.

Formalization of Applications
Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Office of the University of Jaén, attaching the documentation required in the call.
Evaluation Criteria
The Research Committee, for the awarding of the grants, will proceed to evaluate the applications for this action in accordance with both the general rules and the text of the call.
Obligations of the Beneficiaries
The obligations of the research teams benefiting from the grants shall be:
- Provide the contracted research personnel with the necessary support and facilitate the use of facilities, equipment, material resources, or any other type required for the adequate development of their training activity..
- Designate a tutor for the research personnel in training, in accordance with RD 99/2011, of January 28, which regulates official doctoral studies. A person responsible for the candidate's tutoring will also be designated in the external entity.
- Ensure the proper development of the R&D&I activities to be carried out by the proposed research personnel in training for obtaining their doctoral thesis.
- Notify the Vice-Rectorate responsible for Knowledge Transfer of the date of the defense and approval of the contracted researcher's doctoral thesis within a maximum period of 10 days from when it occurs.
