Action Int.2.b. Promotion of Joint International Collaborative Research Actions

Objetives

To promote collaboration between UJA research staff and other prestigious institutions, as well as with ERC beneficiaries or leaders of ongoing international R&D&i projects in which UJA does not participate.

This action includes two (mutually exclusive) incentive measures:

  • Grants for research stays: Aimed at funding accommodation and living expenses for senior UJA research staff at foreign institutions. These grants are intended for applicants to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities program: "Stays for teaching and/or senior research staff in foreign institutions" (or equivalent programs) who achieved a minimum score of 70% of the maximum grade.
  • Collaborations with prestigious researchers: For working alongside renowned researchers from foreign institutions who are ERC grant holders or Principal Investigators (PIs) of international projects in which UJA does not participate. These collaborations may take the form of funding research stays, conducting experimental trials at the host institution, or both.

Conditions

  • Requirements defined both in the general regulations and in the specific call text must be met.
  • Applicants to the "Stays for teaching and/or senior research staff in foreign institutions" program (or equivalent) whose applications were not funded must have obtained a minimum score of 70% of the maximum grade.
  • For unfunded applicants to the "Stays for teaching and/or senior research staff in foreign institutions" program (or equivalent), support will be provided under the same terms specified in the original application.
  • For incentives based on collaborations with prestigious researchers, the collaboration must involve an ERC grant holder or a PI of an international research project in which UJA is not a partner. The project must end after the conclusion of the research stay or experimental trial.
  • The minimum and maximum duration of the stay are defined as follows:
  • Applicants to the senior research stay program (or equivalent): The duration specified in the original application.
  • All other cases: Minimum duration of one month, maximum duration of three months.
  • For collaborations with prestigious researchers, funding may cover equipment usage costs at the host research institution for experimental trials that cannot be performed at UJA facilities. In this case, the maximum duration of the stay will be three months minus the equivalent cost of using the host facility's equipment.
  • Applications must be submitted at least two months prior to the start date of the stay.

Applicant Requirements

  • For senior research stay grants: Applicants must prove they obtained a minimum score of 70% of the maximum grade in the Ministry program (or equivalent).
  • For collaborations with prestigious researchers: Applicants must hold a permanent position at UJA or, failing that, have formal approval from the Vice-Rectorate for Academic Staff and/or the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Knowledge Transfer.

Application Formalization

Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Office of the University of Jaén (Sede Electrónica), attaching all documentation required in the call.

  • Application Form

Evaluation Criteria

Approval by the Director of the OFIPI (International Project Office) in accordance with the conditions set out in the call.

Obligations of Beneficiaries

  • Commitment to submit projects: Beneficiaries are required to submit a collaborative research project proposal to any competitive international R&D&i call during the year the grant is awarded or in the following calendar year.
  • Consequences of non-compliance: Failure to submit the project proposal as established will result in a demand for full reimbursement of the grant awarded.
  • All general obligations and specific conditions stated in the corresponding call text must be fulfilled.
