Action T.1.b. UJA-UP: TRL Roadmaps and Technology Maturation

Objetives

UJA-UP is an initiative aimed at boosting the valorization of research results at the University of Jaén by advancing them along the TRL scale, positioning them for better transfer conditions. To achieve this, it complements the usual OTRI services in protection and transfer with specialized advisory support to draw up an Innovation Roadmap detailing objectives, milestones, key validations, indicative budget, and timeline for the relevant TRL levels toward the market or social application.

Conditions

The grant will fund external consulting/advisory services provided by experts with market or sector knowledge relevant to the technology and/or result, who must sign a confidentiality agreement; the OTRI may assist in identifying suitable profiles. The initiative must be executed within the maximum period set out in the call for applications, with a co-financing commitment from the applicant team if the cost exceeds the granted funding.

Applicant Requirements

Inventors or authors of results involving industrial or intellectual property belonging to the University of Jaén that are in the process of protection or registration during the period specified in the call may apply, provided that UJA holds at least 50% co-ownership, is responsible for managing its protection and commercialization, and none of the co-owners is a company. Results will not be eligible if a specific institutional program exists to channel them, nor will those that have already received equivalent proof-of-concept grants in comparable active calls, under the terms established in the call.

Submission of Applications

Applications must be submitted via the Electronic Office (Sede Electrónica) of the University of Jaén, attaching the documentation specified in the call. This includes a brief report on the technology (status, evidence, and current TRL), target TRL, roadmap scope, advisory needs, timeline, and budget, as well as the profile of the proposed expert or advisory entity (if applicable). Applications must receive approval from OTRI to verify alignment with transfer objectives and final approval from the Research Committee.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated according to the call based on transfer potential and impact, clarity and coherence between the starting and target TRLs, usefulness of the roadmap to accelerate valorization, the team's capacity to execute the resulting itinerary, suitability of the proposed advisor, and appropriateness of the budget and schedule, applying the designated resolution procedure.

Beneficiary Obligations

Beneficiaries must execute the initiative within the deadline and in accordance with eligible expenses, submit the UJA-UP TRL Roadmap to OTRI as the primary deliverable, provide the required technical and financial justification, collaborate in follow-up and subsequent protection and transfer actions, and comply with publicity obligations and any conditions established by general regulations and the call text.
