WP2. Life Cycle Inventory and datasheets

Work package 2: Life cycle inventory (LCI) of the waste valorisation technologies within olive oil value chains: a “cradle to gate” study

Description of work

During the agricultural phase many good agricultural practices should be monitored in order to minimize the environmental and economic impacts such as the choice of the cultivar, the density of plantation, the irrigation system adapted and fertilization operations, pruning, chemical pest control, harvesting. In order to ensure that the new technologies, techniques and practices will result in the reduction of the environmental footprint, Life Cycle Assessment (as defined by ISO 14040 and ISO 14044) and Life Cycle Costing studies will be carried out in WP3.
As a result, Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) datasets for the most processes included in the most representative olive-oil value chain will be developed. The inventory will consider a “cradle to gate” approach, including current treatment of waste flows. In the development of these datasets, the Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) for Olive Oil currently under development will be observed. The following tasks will be carried out:

Task 2.1 Development of questionnaires for data collection

Task 2.2 Collection of environmental and economic inventory data.

Task 2.3. Preparation of datasets
