Work package 3: Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) of the most representative olive oil value chains

Description of work

The “base cases” defined in WP1 will be assessed using the LCA and LCC methodologies in order to define their environmental and economic profiles and identify the “hotspots”, i.e. aspects to be addressed for improving the economic and environmental performance of the whole value chain sector. For all base cases, the functional unit will be “1 litre of olive oil produced” (before bottling) and datasets generated in WP2 will be used for conducting the assessment. The results of this assessment will provide benchmarks that may be used by producers to measure their products against the average values of the region and/or the technology archetype.
