The Journal's History
Arqueología y Territorio Medieval was founded by the Departmental section of Medieval History at the University of Jaén in 1993. The first volume appeared in 1994 with the backing from a small group of researchers on the archaeology of Al-Andalus, although from the very beginning it was proposed that all research related to history and medieval archaeology would be welcome.
Between the years 2003 and 2006 the journal was published every semester but returned to being published annually in 2007 in order to guarantee the quality of the texts published. During the same year profound changes were also introduced in the structure and organisation of the journal, giving rise to the criteria which are now in force.
