The Equality Unit was created in 2009 with the aim of promoting respect and equal rights and opportunities for women and men at the University of Jaén.

The most important objectives are:

• To ensure compliance with the laws and regulations stemming from equality policies, correcting the imbalance between women and men.
• Conduct studies and diagnoses of inequalities between women and men in all sectors of the university community.
• Prepare and ensure compliance with the current Equality Plan.
• Promote awareness, training and information campaigns for the entire university community.
• To prevent and protect against possible situations of sexual harassment and sexist harassment that could occur at our university.
• Promote teaching and research on effective equality between women and men.
