Foreigners

ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT FROM THE EU, SWITZERLAND OR THE COMMON EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (TURKEY, SERBIA, ETC).

The TIE or Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (Foreigner's Identity Card) is the only and exclusive document that accredits the legal stay in Spain of non-EU foreigners who have a residence permit for more than six months or of all foreigners who have obtained a long-term residence permit. It is also used as an identification document for foreign nationals.

This document is processed at the Government Subdelegation in Jaén. It is necessary to make an appointment by selecting the option ‘POLICIA TOMA DE HUELLAS’ in the following link:

Bank account

Those who are going to stay in Spain for more than six months and have obtained their Foreigner's Identity Number (N.I.E.) are recommended to open a bank account for residents (and a bank account for non-residents if the duration of stay is shorter).
