Program R1 Actions (a, b, and c). UJA Investiga: Boosting research activity

UJA Investiga is designed to help our research staff access funding opportunities available within the frameworks established by the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research (2024–2027) and the R&D&I Strategy of Andalusia (2021–2027), through the funding of pre-competitive research projects.

The leadership of young university researchers will be significantly encouraged through the principal investigator (PI) role in various types of projects. This responsibility will enable them to develop and demonstrate key skills, such as decision-making, resource management, and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams. In this regard, it offers the opportunity to innovate, establish collaborations, and motivate research teams to achieve common goals, fostering an academic environment that values creativity and scientific rigor. This process not only strengthens their leadership capacities but also contributes to the advancement of knowledge and a positive impact on society.

This program encompasses different types of actions, three of which are dedicated to competitive projects: projects for young researchers, UJA Impulsa projects, and UJA Female Talent projects. One action is dedicated to helping our research staff succeed in the Knowledge Generation project calls funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Finally, one action aims to strengthen the capacities of our Research Institutes and Centers through performance contracts, making them more competitive so they can apply to the Severo Ochoa, María de Maeztu, or future similar calls.

In UJA Investiga, individuals may only participate as a PI or co-PI in one of the three types of actions, and as a research team member in a maximum of two of the types of actions defined below:
