The University of Jaén (UJA) brought its program of activities commemorating March 8th, International Women's Day, to a close with a flamenco performance by Lourdes Pastor, one of the leading voices in the contemporary reinterpretation of flamenco. Through her lyrics, the artist offered a space for reflection on values such as democracy, equality, inclusion, social justice, and cultural diversity.

The program, comprised of 19 activities, encompassed a variety of academic, cultural, and participatory initiatives. Among them was the opening of a poster exhibition titled “Gender Identities: From Art to Advertising,” as well as a special UniRadio program called “Visible Feminism, Invincible Women,” which highlighted International Women's Day (March 8th) as a key day for continuing to advocate for women's rights.

In the academic sphere, five conferences were held in areas such as health, social sciences, experimental sciences, and the humanities, highlighting the need to incorporate a gender perspective across all disciplines. In addition, three roundtables focused on topics such as health, caregiving, and women's leadership were held, fostering debate and reflection. The program also included two documentary screenings followed by discussions, emphasizing the role of audiovisual media as a tool for denouncing injustices and advocating for the rights of women and girls. Furthermore, student participation was encouraged through recreational activities such as an escape room entitled "Invisible Scientists" and the first edition of the graffiti contest "Strokes with a Voice: Painting for Equality in Social Sciences and Law." The cultural program was a central focus, with a total of four activities including performances, theatrical productions, and the closing concert, "Heartbeats of Democracy and Feminism," by Lourdes Pastor.

In particular, as a prelude to March 8th, the University held a reading of the institutional manifesto promoted by the CRUE, which was read by the student Marta Arco, an event that also featured a performance by Alicia Pelegrina and her scenic poetry proposal "Las Sinsombrero".

The initiatives have seen broad participation from students, faculty, university staff and citizens of Jaén, reflecting the University of Jaén's firm commitment to promoting gender equality and raising social awareness about this issue.
